Amtrak and Greyhound both have hubs in the downtown area. Amtrak's trains offer upgraded experiences like preferred seating, private rooms, and dining options. Greyhound's affordable bus travel includes free onboard Wi-Fi, power outlets, and the ability to reserve your favorite seat when you book your ticket.

Cars, Buses, Ridesharing

IndyGo provides bus service with over 30 fixed routes from their downtown transportation hub. The new Red Line is Indy's first bus rapid transit line with electric buses, platform boarding, and high-frequency service along 13 miles stretching from Broad Ripple in the north the University of Indianapolis in the south. And the new 15.2 mile Purple Line connects the City of Indianapolis and the City of Lawrence, with service east-west through the historic Irvington neighborhood.

Indy is a friendly city for both Uber and Lyft. Driving In

Known as the Crossroads of America, Indianapolis is within a day’s drive of over half of the U.S. population and within three hours of Chicago, Louisville, and Cincinnati. Traffic congestion is a rarity, visitors find the city’s grid layout straightforward, and downtown features over 73,000 parking spots. Biking

Away.com named Indianapolis one of the best cities to see from a bicycle, thanks to the city’s flat landscape, innovative Indianapolis Cultural Trail, and abundance of bike paths. Some hotels offer guests complimentary bikes, or they are available at two convenient rental locations and through the Pacers Bikeshare Program. Pacers Bikeshare provides 50 stations and 525 bikes which are available with a 24-hour pass, monthly pass, or annual purchase. Their pay-as-you-go options make it easy for visitors to explore on two wheels. Visitors can also explore on two-wheels with bikes from Wheel Fun Rentals in White River State Park or Bicycle Garage Indy (BGI), located in historic City Market.

Walking

National journalists have proclaimed Indy one of the most walkable downtowns in the country. On foot, visitors can reach hundreds of restaurants and attractions from their hotel and meeting space. An expansive network of climate-controlled skywalks connecting 4,700 hotel rooms to the convention center, Lucas Oil Stadium, a four-story mall, and restaurants keep it walkable in all weather.

Parking

Finding parking in Indianapolis doesn’t have to be difficult. Indy offers 73,000 spaces downtown.

Downtown Indy’s Parking Guide includes a detailed map of downtown parking with filters for everything from buses to motorcycles. ParkIndy provides intuitive technology to making parking easy via their pay boxes and parking app. For specialty parking, HorseShoe Parking and Denison Parking offer parking in close proximity to Lucas Oil Stadium. To reserve parking, visit ParkWhiz to pre-pay for reserved parking in select lots.
